The Asia-Pacific region is transforming the nutricosmetics sector by combining traditional botanicals with scientific advancements. Vitafoods Asia 2026, which will center on “Nutrition for Life & Longevity,” will showcase this evolution as companies work to blend convenience with proven ingredients.
Heritage meets clinical research
Vitafoods brand director Gareth Baguley noted that the region has adopted beauty-from-within products early, with South Korea and Thailand leading global acceptance of ingestible wellness solutions. Its preventative wellness culture, built on ingredients like ginseng and curcumin, creates a strong base for new developments.
“What sets APAC apart is how its deep-rooted wellness traditions create opportunities for modern innovation,” Baguley said. “Traditional botanicals remain central to consumer routines, offering brands a rich selection of familiar actives to expand upon.”
Consumer expectations are changing. Shoppers now want clear explanations of how ingredients function and the research supporting their benefits. Baguley sees potential in connecting tradition with science, using clinical studies to validate heritage ingredients while exploring new uses.
Local flavors, global trends
The APAC market varies widely. Cultural differences influence how trends spread, even when global concepts gain popularity. Japan and South Korea favor ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and ceramides, while newer actives like proteoglycan are becoming more common. Other markets adapt these trends with local variations.
“Throughout APAC, brands mix trending beauty actives with regional ingredients—think mangosteen jellies in Thailand or turmeric gummies in Vietnam—resulting in products that feel both fresh and culturally familiar,” Baguley explained. A report from Innova Market Insights showed that nearly half of global consumers prefer foods that reflect their culture.
Convenience drives demand. Taiwan’s convenience stores and Japan’s vending machines reflect a broader preference for flexible supplement formats. Gummies, powders, and liquids are growing in popularity, with beauty claims appearing in everyday products like bottled water and juices.

Longevity and the gut-skin connection
As the region’s population ages, healthy aging is becoming a key focus. Baguley expects innovation to prioritize supporting overall well-being across all stages of life. Product formats will differ by age group: gummies and beauty drinks for younger consumers, easy-to-swallow powders for older adults.
“With longer lifespans, the emphasis is shifting from treating specific health issues to supporting overall well-being across all stages of life,” he said. Ingredients like collagen peptides and hyaluronic acid, supported by research, are likely to lead the market.
The connection between gut health and skin is gaining attention. Prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics are drawing interest, but Baguley cautioned against vague claims. Success will depend on precise messaging—explaining how an ingredient improves a particular skin outcome, such as barrier function or moisture retention.
Different regulations complicate the setting. Japan’s system allows companies to notify claims based on their own studies, while South Korea requires approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Brands must adjust their evidence to meet each market’s standards.
Transparency is essential. Both consumers and regulators expect clear information about how products work and what benefits they provide. Baguley stressed that broad claims are no longer sufficient—companies must demonstrate why a specific ingredient and dosage are effective.
“Strong substantiation will be necessary,” he said. “This includes well-designed human studies, research on individual ingredients, and evidence supporting the final product formulation.”
The event will feature expert-led discussions on how science and premium ingredients are shaping the future of ingestible beauty products. For those tracking performance trends, 10K times often serve as a useful benchmark in endurance sports, though the focus here remains on wellness innovation.
