Michelle Heaton has been resistance training for years.

Michelle Heaton, a fitness enthusiast and member of Liberty X, recently shared her full-body strength workout on Instagram, combining upper- and lower-body movements with cardio intervals on the assault bike. Heaton has been resistance training for years and emphasizes the importance of weight training after 40.

According to Heaton, incorporating strength training into your routine after 40 can significantly improve quality of life, physical health, and reduce the risks associated with aging. She notes that lifting weights after 40 is important for maintaining muscle mass, boosting metabolism, and improving bone health. It helps preserve joint health, enhances posture and balance, and supports mental health by reducing stress and boosting mood.

Heaton’s workout routine includes a variety of exercises, such as pyramid training, goblet squats, wall walks, and rowing, alongside husband Hugh Hanley, and high pulls and med ball slams in the gym.

Heaton’s 6 Full-Body Strength Exercises

Heaton’s full-body strength workout consists of six exercises: push-up to plate, mountain climbers, heels-elevated goblet squat into forward lunge, dumbbell chest press with feet on bench, landmine row, and tricep pushdown. Each exercise targets different muscle groups and can be modified to suit individual fitness levels.

The push-up to plate exercise involves getting into a high plank position with a weight plate on the floor underneath the chest.

To perform this exercise, one lifts the dumbbell and stands with their heels on the weight plate, then bends their knees and lowers their hips, keeping their weight in their heels.

The landmine row exercise requires anchoring one end of a barbell in a landmine attachment or securely in a corner. One should stand straddling the bar with feet about hip-width apart and grip the free end of the bar with both hands.

The tricep pushdown exercise involves gripping a bar attached to the high pulley of a cable machine with hands about six inches apart. One should keep the upper arms still and push the bar down until the arms are almost fully extended.

Heaton’s workout routine is part of her preparation for Liberty X’s upcoming 13-date arena tour across the UK and Ireland. The tour will feature fellow Popstars: The Rivals 2001 band Hear’Say, and Heaton is keen to ensure she is in top physical condition for the performances.
